For many of these larger dogs much of their weight is in their legs and for many of them their torsos are slimmer than you might expect. These dogs will have excellent results with the X-Large size dog harness. It has worked well for many dogs in 220-pound range. It really just depends on how their weight is distributed.
Larger rear handle on the Hip Lift provides comfort and support when lifting very large dogs.
Select your dog harness size based on your dog’s weight first, then take measurements for accuracy. If your dog’s weight is on the cusp of harness sizes, we recommend sizing down.

Extra Large Conventional Harness
I can't believe how much this harness made not only the life of my senior dog easier, but my own daily life. No more back injuries carrying him up and down the stairs to our apartment, no more near accidents falling up or down the stairs. He is more comfortable and confident, and so am I! (150 lb. Male Great Dane)
This Help ‘Em Harness rear-support harness is working like a charm for our boxer with degenerative myelopathy! He took to it very quickly and prefers the harness to the mobility cart. Well constructed and easily adaptable.
I adopted Elmo in March 2025 from a rescue at 3 months of age. Soon after, he had been diagnosed with scoliosis of the spine and wanted to walk so bad but all he could do was drag his hind legs together. I tried cheap harnesses, but they didn't fit right and wouldn't stay on when he needed them. With the wonderful assistance of Help 'em Up customer support, I was able to order the correct sized harness for such a small pup but also have some growing room for the months to come. He is now 6 months weighing 38 pounds, but his harness still fits. Yes, he is small for his age but he's a German Shepherd and growing to double this size is not unusual later in the first year or two of his life. This past month, he learned how to go down the stairs on his own and his harness helps his momma lift him just enough so he can use his own strength to "walk up" on his own. We also managed a 600-mile car ride with him walking like a big boy to go potty at the rest stops! Thank you so much for inventing this wonderful harness! It is worth the expense seeing Elmo overcome his disability and be a happy and pup-crazy critter.
My dig Mia was needing help with standing and the Help'Em Up harness allowed me to do that. A lift sling and a sheet or towel she feared so they did not work. This harness also let me lift Mia into the car for her post surgery appointments. The harness had great reviews and oddly enough when I showed the surgeon's office PT woman the harness she said this was exactly the one she would have recommended. Customer service is also outstanding!! I am a happy customer and will recommend it to anyone needing a good harness!!
