For many of these larger dogs much of their weight is in their legs and for many of them their torsos are slimmer than you might expect. These dogs will have excellent results with the X-Large size dog harness. It has worked well for many dogs in 220-pound range. It really just depends on how their weight is distributed.
Larger rear handle on the Hip Lift provides comfort and support when lifting very large dogs.
Select your dog harness size based on your dog’s weight first, then take measurements for accuracy. If your dog’s weight is on the cusp of harness sizes, we recommend sizing down.

Extra Large U-Band Harness
We were at our wits end with our old Samoyed. He can no longer get up on his own. He falls frequently. He can't do stairs and getting him into a car was almost impossible. We tried another harness but it chafed and caused wounds across Otto's belly. We tried slings but it was awkward and painful for us and Otto. My husband and I are elderly and we were becoming injured trying to get Otto up. We asked around for recommendations from fellow kennel club members and this was the consensus solution. We borrowed one and wow! What a difference. So we bought one. We can now get Otto up and around with minimal strain. It's great! And now we can hope to have our boy with us for a long time.
It is a bit tricky to fit with all the straps to adjust. It's quite forgiving though. Doesn't have to be perfect.
I was pleasantly surprised how well this small U band option fit for my aging mini labradoodle. I tried a previous harness from Amazon first that Teddy kept peeing on the large band that was often in the way of his urine stream. This is a very sturdy harness that offers the unique U band option that allows better performance.
My 11 year old shepherd broke his leg. He was already having difficulty getting up. This harness was extremely helpful in moving him around. I’m so glad I found this.
Baby was recently diagnosed with Degenerate Myloepathy. She weighs about 65 pounds so it was apparent we would be needing something to help her on her journey with this disease. Our family is extremely active so Baby walks a mile everyday. She hikes and plays ball. However we have two flights of stairs to take her to our backyard. She has issues in keeping her balance going down the stairs. What a life saver these harnesses are. The most important thing is it works and she likes it! We know she will progressively get worse. However we now have the tool to help her during the time she has left with us. Thank you for giving us the tool to help our Baby enjoy the rest of her life!
This is such a gift from above. Thank you to everyone who poured hours of creativity into this design. My 205lb Newfoundland didn’t fit in any harness and at 10 he can’t get up on his won anymore but he’s nowhere near the end. I’m only 5’4 so helping him up was destroying my back. Now it’s a BREEEEEEEZE!! Literally as easy as something could be. Thank you, thank you, thank you. If you are reading this and know ANYONE with an elderly dog please share this product with them. It’s changed our lives (and my doggo’s fate).
