Hip-lifts should not be worn or used separately, without a front shoulder harness to connect to and be secure for safety purposes. The front shoulder dog harness is available separately as a comfortable walking harness, with a handle that provides a convenient grip and to guide your dog. This has helped my 78lb Labrador retriever so much. She is 15 years old and has severe arthritis in her hips and this harness has been a a huge help in getting her around.She wears it at physical therapy as well.

Our dog Dixie suffered an injury more than five years ago. This injury left her paralyzed. Thankfully surgery was not needed but when we brough her home from the Hospital she had only 75% use of her back left leg and almost zero use of her back right leg. The Help 'em up Harness allowed us to help her with her PT and get her strength back. She regained full use of her rear left leg and 90% use of her rear right leg. We continue to use this harness and always will as it gives us confidence on our outings with her if she needs it, we can use it to help her up and down high steps, into the car, or along hiking paths. My dog abruptly lost function in her back legs. I went through several harnesses and slings and they just didn’t work properly. They were poorly made and stressed me out more than I needed given the stress and sadness I was experiencing with my baby losing the ability to walk on her own. I have ordered two harnesses, one in medium and one in large. My dog is 80 lbs and paralyzed back legs. He has a large belly and his body is very long. The rear lift on both the medium and large do not cover enough of his body to give the lift and support to hold a long, heavy dog up as there is too much space between the front and rear harness to hold his belly up. Also the attachment from the back to the front harness goes right along my dog's spine and I would prefer an attachment on both sides and not along the spine like the Tigris harness uses.
