"Having recommended the Help 'Em Up harness to countless dog families in my practice, I only fully grasped its value when I had to use it for my own dogs—Serissa, then Duncan, and finally Sam. The experience was a game-changer. Not only did it provide crucial support for my pets, but it also spared my back from strain. By enhancing their support and mobility, it significantly improved their quality of life and extended their years. The combination of features and comfort makes this harness my top recommendation for any patient struggling with mobility issues. It's simply unparalleled!"

Need More Support?
Our intelligently designed walking accessories can be paired with the Help 'Em Up Harness to provide additional mobility assistance and extra leverage to support your pet.
Walking Handle
A single support to either the hip-lift handle or to the front shoulder strap. Allows the handle to pivot and swivel.
It can be worn comfortably for extended periods of time, but we do suggest giving your dog a break when it’s not needed. Let them sleep without it if possible. Have a dog that needs a 3am potty break? Just take it off when you come back inside.
Loosen the straps when your dog wants to lie down in it to help prevent hot spots, chafing or overheating.
When left alone, some pups may start to chew on the harness, so we suggest inspecting the harness often. Watch for signs of discomfort, hot spots, and overheating and remove immediately if your dog is bothered.
Is it possible for my dog to relieve themself wearing the dog harness?
Yes! The support straps between your dog’s hind legs are held apart by their tail, giving full clearance for defecation. Both male and female dogs can comfortably urinate with the Conventional Hip Lift without issue. For those male dogs whose penis is further back between their hind legs, we recommend the U-Band Hip Lift.
Is the harness washable?
Yes, all of our dog lifting harnesses can be machine or hand washed, but we recommend air drying (dryers tend to dry out the neoprene over time). Clean regularly with mild soap and consider using a Help ‘Em Up Wash Bag to increase longevity. We do not recommend bleach or other harsh detergents. If urine odor is an issue, soak in white vinegar and water (1:3 ratio) and wash with mild soap. There are also commercial cleaners available that can help to cut odor.
Can I use the back-end Hip Lift by itself?
No. The front half of the dog harness can be used alone but the Hip Lift (the back half) needs to connect to the front half to stay in place, otherwise it can slip off and cause an injury.
What can I do with my dog harness if I no longer need it?
Donate it! Your local vet, vet hospital, therapist, animal shelter, or adoption clinic likely has many dogs who are in need of this support.

The BEST product for geriatric loss of mobility in large dogs!
I can't say enough good things about this harness. Our 83-lb female golden retriever, Scout, struggles with osteoarthritis and geriatric onset laryngeal paralysis and polyneuropathy (GOLPP). The last couple of months her mobility has rapidly declined. I studied every harness or sling or handle I could find before choosing the Help 'Em Up Harness for our girl.
It was worth every cent! I recommend this for any senior dog, as soon as they start to show any signs of weakness. Do it before they fall and injure themselves, not after! Wow! The difference in her abilities, comfort, and safety is massive.
This is so easy to use. Even my mother with a walker and balance issues can help Scout up with one hand. Sweet Scout learned within a few days that she just has to ask us for help (a quiet bark or whine works). I come right to her and ask if she needs help and she starts to get her feet underneath her. Then I gently pull her upright, she wags her tail in thanks, and then she goes to her water bowl or whatever else she needs.
It's a simple and thoughtful solution. Scout does not mind wearing this low-profile harness at all. It is easy to fit to your dog, and not too picky when it comes to tightness. The strap connecting the front to the back needs to be a little loose when the dog is standing erect in order for them to reach the floor. It's only there to hold up the back half, so looser works just fine. I adjusted all the straps at once, and it was a quick add easy process. The unit comes connected in all the right places, so you don't have to think about how to put it together. That's a huge help even you're dealing with the stress of an aging dog's mobility problems. I only release four buckles when I take it off at night. She naps in it during the day, and I take it off at night to reduce potential matting. I try to remember brush her armpits, at least, in the morning before putting it back on. Going potty is never a problem. I just tuck her feathers to the sides of the straps when I "dress her" in the morning.
I also highly suggest grippy socks for your older dog. The combination has been perfect for us.
I can use this harness to help her up a ramp, up the stairs, up from the the floor, into the car, etc. It is so well constructed and designed! I really like the metal side loop options to attach a leash wherever is most convenient for my needs. She's always been pretty good on a leash, but it's really nice to have her leash on the side I walk her on so that I can direct her automatically my direction. The handles are just the right size to use without being bulky for my furry friend.
I'm so relieved to have this product. Thank you to customer service for responding very promptly about sizing! The suggested M size fits a pretty big golden retriever perfectly. I needn't have worried about her large chest girth.
If in doubt about your pup's size, email costumer support. They were so responsive and helpful.
Thank you for making this product!

Perfect for Recovery!
Our pup is recovering from MPL surgery, and it's been a challenge due to his high energy breed. This harness has done absolute wonders for keeping his movements controlled. We are able to support him easily while using the bathroom, and for doing his PT exercises. We got the U-shaped harness, and from day one he was able to potty without any problems. Worth every cent! I don't have pics with him in the harness, but thought I'd share how comfortable he is.

Extremely helpful!
My 11 year old 75 lb pup,Daisy, has a very rare condition called Cushing's related myotonis which had caused an unsteady, stiff gait and knuckling on her back legs when she walks. She just stayed rehab last week and the first thing the therapist told me what to not this harness. Daisy can go up stairs and get on the couch but is unable to get down. She got on the couch this week for the first time in several weeks when I wasn't looking. I put the harness on her while she was on the couch and I was able to easily and safely help her down. Highly recommend.

This has been a lifesaver for my 13yo dog Susie who has been having a lot of issues with her back legs. She adapted to wearing the harness very quickly, so I know it's comfortable and she realizes it helps her. It makes getting her in and out of the car, going up and down stairs so much easier for my dog. And it's also eased the stress on my own back. My only regret is that I hadn't purchased it earlier.

Life changing
This harness was life changing! My black lab, Diesel, was unable to stand on his own, and we were using a towel to help him up. It was clearly causing him pain so I ordered this harness on advice from my vet. It arrived quickly and was easy to adjust. It changed everything because I was able to get him up and walking frequently. He can now stand and walk without help. I don’t know what would have happened if we hadn’t made this purchase. I do wish I had bought the medium instead of large because it’s a little loose. Diesel weighs 80lbs so the sizing was in a grey area. I plan to buy the medium size and keep the large in case a friend is ever in need. I 100% recommend this harness for any dog with mobility issues.
