Hip-lifts should not be worn or used separately, without a front shoulder harness to connect to and be secure for safety purposes. The front shoulder dog harness is available separately as a comfortable walking harness, with a handle that provides a convenient grip and to guide your dog. We have a Great Dane who just turned 12 years old, and who has mobility problems that are worsening each month. We started using the full front and back harness last year and it has been a lifesaver. Because of the back harness we can still take our old man for walks, and it saves our back from strain when he needs help getting up from his bed. I recently had to buy a size smaller for just the back portion of the harness because he has lost so much weight in his old age. I was happy to be able to buy just the back piece to get a better fit.
